HOW TO MANAGE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WASTE FOR RESIDENTS?
If you have waste electrical and electronic equipment, you can:
- apply to the Public Enterprise "Organization of Electronics Manufacturers and Importers";
- take them to the waste collection sites;
- distributors are obliged, without requiring additional payment, to accept electrical and electronic equipment waste given by the user if it is of the same purpose as the electrical and electronic equipment sold by the distributor;
- to call the electrical and electronic equipment handlers to remove the obsolete equipment themselves.
Waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of in containers intended for household waste. After entering the environment (water, soil, atmosphere), the waste can contaminate it with dangerous toxic substances: mercury, lead, cadmium, chromium.
Bulky waste collection sites are places where residents can bring and leave household bulky waste, construction and demolition, electrical and electronic equipment, used tires, household hazardous waste (batteries, accumulators, vehicle hazardous waste, household chemicals) free of charge waste), biodegradable waste and secondary raw materials.
You can find more detailed information about municipal waste management and bulky waste collection sites (their working hours, what kind of waste is accepted there) on the websites of municipalities (http://www.lsa.lt/) or by calling the municipality's information phones.
